Sorry 'bout the lack of posts lately! You know how it is, life just gets busy sometimes...
Anyways, here is some Free the Robots, more hot experimental type hip hop beats from L.A. except a little less experimental and a little more jazzy breakbeats. This guy really knows how to seamlessly blend the different styles and make you think that no music ever even existed before it. So here you go and if you dig it, go snatch it up here.

What more can be said about this guy. He just cranks out anthem after anthem of sweet sexy french house tunes and he's been doing it for years now. Musician & Producer Fred Falke started his career as a bass player in 1995 playing in various bands before starting his own production work in the late 90's. Since then he has rocked out some of the last few years most memorable house anthems including 'Intro' and 'Rubicon', both collaborations with long time partner in crime Alan Braxe and has gone on to remix the likes of Jamiroquai, Kelis, Hot Chip and Goldfrapp. 2008 showed no signs of slowing down with his hugely popular remix of 'golden cage' by The Whitest boy Alive and his 'Music for Friends' EP (Beatport link) released on long time friend and studio partner Kris Menace's label Work It Baby. I have posted a few of these songs before but thought they deserved to be wrapped up in a nice tidy package here. I know it's a bit cheesy but you can't tell me this stuff isn't great for when you're all mashed on the dancefloor dancing with pretty girls...

So how awesome is Flying Lotus? Soooooo awesome, that's how...
Straight outta L.A., Steven Ellison a.k.a. Juno Lead a.k.a. Flying Lotus is a sort of experimental hip hop beat producer who has made some serious waves with his 2008 release on warp records 'Los Angeles' (Purchase here). With work on his albums, remixes, production work and part time film making, seems this guy has no shortage of creativity and inspiration and I can't wait to see what he comes out with next. You might remember his track 'parisian goldfish' from my 'dancefloor dale' post which I have re-posted here cuz it is sooo cool...

Formed in 2003 as an electronic-based group with an emphasis on the dancefloor, the Whitest Boy Alive eventually abandoned all programming and most other forms of synthetic instrumentation for a typical rock band setup. Guitarist/vocalist Erlend Øye (the Kings of Convenience), bassist Marcin Öz, drummer Sebastian Maschat, and keyboardist Daniel Nentwig began playing a form of straightforward and stripped-down indie rock informed by early Talking Heads and Josef K. They released their first album, titled 'Dreams', in 2006 which can be purchased here. Their new album 'Rules' (available for purchase here) is due for release today and I think it sounds just as awesome if not awesomer as their last one. The first 3 tunes are from the new album. next 2 are from 'Dreams' and I thought I would throw in the the Fred Falke remix of golden cage just cuz it's beautiful for sure and just to forshadow a bit for the Fred Falke post coming soon... enjoy :)

As you may or may not have noticed, none of my mp3s are accessible at the moment due to the fact that fileden, my free file host has suspended my account. Anyways, I will try to get it sorted ASAP. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I know it's already been kind of remixed but somebody needs to video remix the shit outta this, unfortunately I wouldn't know the first place to start :(
Can you do that? Can you "warp" video to snap to a beat like you can with audio in ableton? I'm sure you must be able to...
Loves it...

Recently picked up on french label Kitsuné Music and featured on thier 6th 'maison' mixed cd, La Roux is definitely the hottest new electro pop female vocalist/producer duo thing going on right now. On the more soulful side of sweet 80's synth pop a lá The Eurythmics, these guys are definitely bringing something fresh to the scene. first single 'In For the Kill' due out on Polydor on mar. 16 and can be purchased here. Loving Skreams remix of this one, he really hits it spot on. here you go...

Happy Valentines day yall!
Hope you're all having a lovey dovey day out there :) I am currently not hooked up (hey ladies, I don't own a car but I do have my own blog so... ya) so I thought I would do up a post of songs that remind me of ex girlfriends. I seem to have built up quite a collection (ex's AND songs) :oS
There are some damn good songs in there, and a few bad ones. As far as all the things I miss or am happy to be rid of, their musical tastes are at the top of both lists. What can I say? music is kind of a big deal for me :) And sometimes girls listen to really weird music. And what's with most girls listening to top 40 music? I will never get that...
Anyways, here ya go, the good, the bad, and the ugly (JK, I don't date ugly girls (JK, you should see the girl who broke my cherry)) :)
Fred Falke - 8:08pm @ the Beach
The Ting Tings - Shut Up and Let Me Go (Classixx Remix)
Ms. Dynamite - Dy-Na-Mi-Tee
Lady Gaga - Just Dance OMG I hate this damned song. Don't tell me to dance, I only dance if the music is good (not true). If I was at a lady gaga show (which I never would be) I would just stand there with my arms crossed trying my hardest to look disappointed.
Jenny Wilson - Let My Shoes Lead Me Forward (The Knife Remix)
Sam Roberts - Bridge to Nowhere Canadian content! niiiiiiiice :)
MSTRKRFT - Easy Love Also Canadian (niiiiiiiiiice)
Other good Canadian electronic acts: Hatiras, Crystal Castles, Chromeo (1 half), Richie Hawtin, Deadmau5, Tiga, Venetian Snares, to name a few...
Sia - Breath Me
Benny Benassi - Satisfaction Also reminds me of searching "techno" in napster when I was a kid. That search also got "Da rude - Sandstorm", nice one.
Jacksoul - Still Believe in Love Hard to believe this one was written in this decade accept for the reference to big screens and DVD's.
Etta James - At Last
This one is just a romantic ass song for all you love birds out there. and an homagé to Obama.
U.S.A. A-OK for picking lesser of 2 evils.
Obamas first dance - Beyonce - At Last
I think if she (Beyonce) was naked in my bed and she sang to me like she loved me I could explode into a million little pieces that would spread over the entire world and end all wars and cure all disease.

Oli Chang, James Lie and Peter Portray are the 3 boys from Australia who make up T.O.D. These guys definitely need to be talked about more. Found them about a year ago on myspace and haven't really heard anything since except for this song by Oli chang where he beautifully samples the shit out of a movie called "Troy Planet" (I would usually have a link to the movie on IMDB there but there isn't much information at all about it). I wouldn't be surprised to find out that out of the 3, he is the one mostly responsible for the sweet chopped up Jay-Z vocals in "Kwik Allstars". You can go buy their album here.

Hey Kiddies :D
Just wanted to do a post about "dubstep" and what I like and don't like and what it's defining qualities actually are. I've heard all the popular UK type dubstep like Benga, Coki, Skream, Caspa, Rusko, Kromestar, N-Type, you see who I'm getting at. Pretty much the top 40 of dubstep. I gotta say, I'm not so down, there are a few good tunes here and there but most of it is pretty bland. Big wobbly basslines (which I do actually enjoy immensely, if done right) and rootical dub samples. I hate to slag but it seems that stuff is just a bit to repetitive and lacks depth. My problem is I really love the idea of it and the general style but it's seems like you've heard one, you've heard 'em all. Maybe it's more just a matter of preference. The tracks I've posted here are some of the more creative "outside the box" (and a few inside the box but good all the same) tracks that I have found but I need more! Is some of this stuff even really classified as dubstep or is it part of some other sub genre I don't know about? Maybe breakstep/something a tiny bit faster and a bit more hectic? Please have a listen and comment to help me with this frustrating search I'm sure you're all familiar with when searching for something just you have just realized you love, but can't put your finger on. Cheers yall :)
